Pegasus Steel adds Fifth Trumpf Laser

Pegasus Steel will have a new addition to the Team, making its official Debut in January 2018.

Our latest acquisition is a Trumpf TruLaser 5040 8kW fiber laser cutter with a 4 x 2 metre cutting bed, which takes our Trumpf laser cutting machine tally to five. The new TruLaser 5040 fiber allows us to cut carbon steel sheets up to 25mm, stainless steel sheets up to 40mm, aluminium sheets up to 25mm and copper and brass up to 10mm.

35 000 litre Tanker for Machinery Contractors

35 000 litre tanker designed at Pegasus Steel

The tank comprises 6.5 Tonnes of parts, all of which were cut and formed at Pegasus Steel’s workshops in Greenhills, Germiston. The tank was designed by Pegasus Steel for Machinery Contractors a division of Keeley Granite Pty Ltd., who are leaders in the supply of accessories for large earth moving equipment.

MEEE Membership

Pegasus Steel has become a member of Mechanical Engineering Equipment Exhibitions (MEEE). The MEEE is an association of companies involved in the mechanical engineering industry that have agreed to pool their resources for marketing purposes. Each year the members organise exhibitions in areas of Southern Africa that are experiencing significant building or refurbishing activity. 

Pegasus Steel attended several exhibitions in the Gauteng region during the year.

Team Building - Scuba Diving Course

Team Building - Scuba Diving Course

Recently, a few employees enjoyed another team building scuba diving course at Sodwana. The initial lectures were held over two weeks and the diving classes were completed over a long weekend.

It was a great success and after the scuba course, an exam had to be written by the participants, which was passed by all.

Team Building - Tough Mudder

Team Building - Tough Mudder

In May of 2013, four of our employees flew to the United States for “Probably the toughest event on the Planet”, the Tough Mudder. Keane McCabe, Chris Smith, Damion Quinsee, and Logan Lawrence completed the Jacksonville obstacle course in just over 3 hours, after their long 7 hour drive from Charleston.

Team building exercises also took place where most of the Pegasus employees participated at Irene farm in Midrand. This team building exercise was also an obstacle course and was a fun-filled day for all.

Pegasus Steel Annual Golf Day

The Pegasus Steel Golf Day took place on the 23rd September 2013. The golf day was a charity event held to raise much needed funds for the Lambano Santuary.

The event was held at Reading Country Club and the day was enjoyed by staff, suppliers and customers.

The day was a success and representatives from Lambano Sanctuary were at prize giving to receive their cheque from the proceeds.

Pegasus Steel has been assisting the Lambano Sanctuary Home and Hospice as part of our BEE initiative scheme from January 2011. Lambano Sanctuary is another organization for abandoned children that we at Pegasus Steel are proud to be a part of.
